Red Wing Moc Toe Recraft
The customer was unhappy with the function of the traction tread soles in winter, and wanted a different sole. But one with a little deeper tread than the 430 mini lug sole that Red Wing often uses. He also didn't want the Vibram Roccia cleated soles because the of the profile it creates. We decided on the Victory Soles, that Loake uses on many of their boots. It's a great sole, with good traction and pattern for snow, but without the extreme profile the Roccia gives. I also added leather midsoles, for a sturdier feeling. Under the old soles I replaced the cork, repaired the gemming, reinforced the gemming and added shanks.

Red Wing Beckman Recraft
Переглядів 1,5 тис.2 місяці тому
The customer wanted to replace the old soles with Vibram 430 mini lug soles, like the Red Wing Iron Rangers, and the Red Wing Blacksmith models. We added a 2,5 mm leather midsole to increase the stability and make the boots sturdier. Before that I repaired the gemming and added a gemming reinforcement fabric.
Alden Indy Boots resoled
Переглядів 2,9 тис.3 місяці тому
These iconic Alden Indy Boots needed new vibram soles, but the soles were stitched all the way through the vibram soles, meaning that the whole seam needs to be redone to replace the soles. But the welts were sanded too far from the factory so there was not enough welt at the heel front to house a new seam. Therefore we decided to do a full rebuild including new welts. This is very unfortunate,...
Loake 1880 Bedale
Переглядів 7 тис.7 місяців тому
These boots were going to cost more than new to restore properly, so the customer opted for a cheaper repair job, where I just stitched the uppers in some places, replaced the top lifts, and did a cleanup. At least they can be a beautiful corpse, while he wears them down completely.
Extreme restoration with new foot beds, on Crockett & Jones Chelsea VIII
Переглядів 17 тис.8 місяців тому
These shoes were almost beyond rescue. The foot beds were cracked and they are very difficult to replace without the original last. Furthermore the linings were worn out in several places. The replacement of the foot beds provided an opportunity to replace or repair the lining though. The linings in chelseas are very preshaped and more or less impossible to replace without the right tools to sh...

These shoes belonged to the customers grandfather, and carry a high senimental value. Customer wanted me to restore them to the best possible shape, and we gave them a budget of ca 400€-450€. I replaced the heel counters with new ones in leather and new backlinings. New foot beds in leather and new welts and leather soles. The big question mark was the uppers. The leather was REALLY dry, and I ...
He couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw what I did to his shoes. Two big shoe restorations.

Customer was sure that one of these pairs was destined for the trash bin, but I convinced him to let me try to save them. He was kind enough to videotape his unboxing, and here's the final video on the restorations with unboxing. 2 pairs of Crockett & Jones shoes. Both needed big restorations, and one pair had uppers in really bad shape.
Total repair of R.M.W. Gardeners, with leather restoration.
Переглядів 204 тис.Рік тому
A customer in Denmark sent me three pairs of shoes to be serviced and repaired. The R.M.W:s were in really bad shape and needed gemming repair, soles, heel counters, back linings, elastics and a quite extensive upper repair of some major cracks in the leather. Price ended up exactly like a brand new pair. ca 500€ (5200 SEK), but the customer really wanted his shoes restored.
Transforming these low quality shoes, into sturdy work boots.

Thes boots were real poor quality, with soles of TR and paper foot beds. I replace the foot beds with 3 mm leather foot beds with new shanks, and stitch on rubber midsoles, before crowning them with Vibram Roccia cleated soles. I also sand the uppers to make them more susceptible to grease, for extra protection and water proofing, without leaving a sticky surface. I start with an oiled leather ...

Greasy boots gets cleaned and polished. Fantastic result.
Переглядів 3,1 тис.Рік тому
These were the greasiest dress boots I have ever seen. It took forever to strip them, and still I had to scrub them with soap. They got clean in the end though, and after a nourishing treatment with shoe cream they came out almost as good as new.
Extreme slipper rebuild. Everything but the uppers was replaced.
Переглядів 3,9 тис.Рік тому
These slippers were sent to me to be completely reconstructed, keeping only the uppers. I started shooting the project late, after I discovered it was a bigger project than I first thought. I spent hours working on the uppers before I started shooting, so there is quite a lot of work done on them not documented.

Restoration of C&J Grasmere. New Gumlite soles, and new heel counters.
Переглядів 30 тис.Рік тому
These shoes are ca 15 yrs old. Uppers are in surprisingly good shape, and needs not much restoration. Just a washing, some straightening out the creases, a little scuff mark fix and a nourishing polish. The heel counters and linings are in worse shape though, and could not be repaired. Heel counters needed replacing. New original Gumlite soles, and the shoes are as good as new.

Always so good to watch a craftsman at work. Great video.
I loved watching every minute Your a true Pro.
NOOOOOO NOT THE FAKE SLIME ADS😭
Nice
Beautiful sole!
You Sir are a real craftsman. Well done .
Amazing work. Thanks for sharing.
We need you in Nigeria
Thank you!
I wish you read…..stop with the music
This would have been a good ASMR video... no need for the background music. Fine job on the repair.
Huge repair cost and the uppers still show the cracks. Not sure that’s worth the cost.
It was worth it to the customer. He knew the price in advance and what new boots cost. But you seem to ignore the sentimental value of things. I once restored a pair of slippers for 7x the price of a new pair. And another thing to add. The boots gets better than factory new after recraft. The only thing I cannot restore is the uppers. But with proper care in the future, they can last a long while still. I have reinforced the leather fibres and decreased the cracks.
Great job! Love your work man!
Hi nice work, I am from India,i would like to learn this from you, would you? Pls reply
I'm sorry, but I don't accept apprentices at the moment.
Result looks amazing! Was it much cheaper than buying a new pair?
nice upgrade. I like it when anything is repaired and made better than it was.
Great job and video!
Are you an official RM Williams repair shop? you are using original RM replacement parts. I checked RMs website, current price to replace the soles $160, elastics $140 and all the tugs $140 altogether is $440. that's doesn't include the cost of relasting and extensive repairs as you did in this video, lets just say that another minimum of $140. total repair would be $540. A new pair of boots would cost $649. I mean take away nostalgia and bring in logic, is it worth repairing old boots or just buy new boots?
Beautiful job!
Damn these came out nice!
Very good repair, they look very sturdy now! Nice video too.
nice project!
Very nice. I love the 1907s.
Impresionante. Gracias por mostrarnos tus trabajos
How come the gemming is very seldomly stitched to the insole? Of course, I can imagine that it would be annoying standing on stitches, still it feels like poor gemming performance is a big weakness that many shoe brands struggles with? Thank you once again for excellent videos!
You have to cut the production costs somewhere. If they did the shoes exactly like I want them done, the price would multiply many times. Every little step counts. 99% of customers wants cheap shoes, even welted. If the customer won't pay, the producers won't do it. But some factories does the gemming better than others. I've never had any issues with Crockett & Jones and the more expensive english brands.
It's my understanding that the majority of shoes being produced these days with the gemming sewn to the insoles are mostly bespoke and a select number of super high-end RTW brands making their shoes to a bespoke standard. A cobbler friend says that not sewing the gemming to the insoles has been the norm for a while, even for some of the more expensive brands, but yes, I'm inclined to agree the nicer English shoes do a good job with this.
Excellent Job....... as always!
PERFECTION!
Wow! That’s Diamond treatment shoe restoration material and labour cost plus time $150-$180AUD easy!
❤❤❤❤fantastisch ihre Arbeit ❤.
This is so cool - I have exactly the same Chelsea 5 boots and would love to have a guy like you close. Wonderful job!
At which point do you say, just get new shoes
Never been a big fan of their leather. They always crease right around those areas pretty quick when new and over time degrade into cracking.
Parecen nuebos.
Qué maravilla !
Well done Bro!
Well done great work and job ❤
Absolutely fantastic restoration, my only observation is - seeing as the boots were being resoled, why not have the new heel upper inner leather follow the outer upper leather and go outside the insole and under the rand as it would be from the factory?
That would be a MUCH bigger job and probably break the budget. Few people want to pay more for the repair then a new pair would cost. This job was expensive enough. You just dont do back linings like that. And there would be no practical point to it. It would be better to do that with the heel counters, but again, it would be much more expensive.
👍👍👍
just like new great job!!!!!
Brilliant work, real artistry.
Great video. So interesting watching you work. A great skill. More videos please.
Beautiful job on the recraft.
Magnífico trabajo
Well done! Those are pretty rare Red Wings.
Nice resole and conditioning. Enjoy your videos too!!
Well done! I’m glad you didn’t cut corners but went above and beyond to fix the broken gemming. You did it right the first time.
Grymt arbete som vanligt, både med skorna och med videoredigeringen.. Snyggt!!
Excellent work! May I ask what kind of glue/filler do you use to treat the cracks in the leather?
The fact that you took the time to do the extra step of reinforcing the gemming which no one would notice speaks volumes to your craftsmanship
